Boil Water Notice Led Some Boone Businesses To Temporarily Close (2017-12-28 15:48:04)

The Boil Water Notice posted by the Town of Boone has had an impact on a number of local businesses.

Several restaurants and businesses temporarily closed Wednesday as the result of the notice, but some remained open utilizing precautionary measures recommended by AppHealthCare.

Chick-Fil-A, Goodnight Brothers Country Ham, Krispy Kreme, Starbucks, Harris Teeter perishable departments, Casa Rustica, Cobo Sushi Bar were among those that closed. Makoto's Japanese Steak House did serve dinner Wednesday night using precautionary measures set by AppHealthCare.

The Boil Water notice was posted by Boone Public Works Director Rick Miller after a 12 inch water main broke in the early hours of Wednesday morning, causing a drop in water pressure in the town’s supply system.

Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for introduction of bacteria into the water system.

The Boil Water notice was expected to be in effect for 48 hours
