The New Year will come in on an icicle.

It's been cold, but it's going to be colder.

The National Weather Service forecast for the New Year's weekend has some of the coldest temperatures so far this season.

Sunday's high temperature is forecast in the mid 20's, with lows Sunday night around 10 degrees.

Then the first day of 2018 is even colder, with highs on Monday in the mid to upper teens, and Monday night lows in the low to mid single digits.

Temperatures only moderate slightly for Tuesday, with highs in the low 20s and lows in the lower teens.

As of this posting, the official forecast does not indicate any precipitation, but some snow flurries can't be ruled out.

Either way, take steps now to prepare for the coldest conditions yet.
