A Delaware man has died in an accident on the Watauga River in Tennessee.

The Elizabethton Star reports Tennessee Wildlife Resources confirmed the man died in accident Tuesday in Carter County.

The victim is George Warren, age 65, from Townsend, Delaware, and was on vacation with his family.

According to the report, three people were floating on the Watauga River from Wilbur Dam Road and witnesses say all three passed under Hunter Bridge, but at some point, Warren became separated from the other two.

The report indicates witnesses saw a PFD in the river and discovered it was Warren floating face down in the river. He was brought to shore and CPR was begun while waiting on EMS. WJHL TV reports Warren was taken to Sycamore Shoals Hospital, but he did not survive.

The vessel, a blue single seat 10.5 ft. inflatable pontoon, was reported to be still missing.
