Mountaineers Land a QB Transfer.... (2018-06-09 17:38:00)

BOONE - is reporting former UCLA quarterback Jackson Gibbs is transferring to Appalachian State University.

Gibbs, who was a two-time all-conference performer at Cornelius-Hough High School, did not play as a freshman for the Bruins. And per NCAA rules, Gibbs, who will join his brother, Miller, a perfered walk-on tight end, will have to sit a year before he becomes eligible in 2019. Gibbs will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Gibbs, who also had offers from Maryland and Michigan before he chose UCLA, threw for 1,686 yards and 20 touchdowns his senior year for the Huskies. He threw for more than 3,400 yards in his career and 33 TDs. And according to the Winston-Salem Journal, Gibbs is the grandson of former Washington Redskins coach and current NASCAR owner, Joe Gibbs.
