The Ashe County Board of Commissioners voted to support a statewide referendum on a bond issue for school facility needs.

The Ashe Post and Times reports the Public School Building Bond Act will be on the ballot in the November general election if approved by the General Assembly.

The bond referendum would invest $1.9 billion dollars to begin addressing school needs in the state, estimated to run $8.1 billion dollars for new facilities, maintenance and renovations.

If placed on the ballot and approved, Ashe would receive more than $12.9 million.
