High Speed Chase Ends With Two Arrests In Mitchell County (2018-06-07 15:27:19)

Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man and woman from Tennessee on a number offelony charges after a high speed chase Monday.

The Avery Journal reports Joey Dale Clipse Amanda Nicole Sigler were arrested after leading authorities on a chase from Carter County Tennessee into Mitchell County.

The two were wanted in Carter County after trying to run over two deputies.

The chase went along Highway 143 near Roan Mountain before the Black Nissan Altima was lost, then resumed along Hughes Gap Road and onto Highway 226 towards Bakersville, and eventually ended on Mine Camp Road before the vehicle was forced off the road.

According to the report, Clipse and Sigler jumped out of the vehicle and tried to escape on foot, but were soon taken into custody.

Clipse was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on law enforcement officers, possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule II controlled substance, felony fleeing and numerous traffic offenses.

Sigler was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on law enforcement officers, possession of methamphetamine and possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance.

Thirteen grams of methamphetamine were found in the car, stolen property from Tennessee, and $1,297 in cash.

Clipse and Sigler also have pending warrants in Avery County for drug charges.
