The Town of Boone budget for 2018-19 was presented this week.

After two days of budget workshops, the proposed budget has no increases in taxes or fees.

The Watauga Democrat reports the budget will fund a new position in the Fire Department and the Cultural Resources Department, recommends a 2.5 percent cost of living adjustment for town employees, and the use of excess monies in the general fund on several projects.

According to the report, more than $1.8 million dollars over the recommended cash reserves of 35 percent would be put to use on a new fire truck, police department radio equipment, an additional police officer, and Public Works paving projects.

There will be a public hearing on the budget on June 19th.
