Seven Month Old Child Found Safe In Randolph County (2018-06-06 15:58:20)

Authorities say 7-month-old Emma Grace Kennedy, who was the center of an Amber Alert after being abducted at knifepoint by her father, Carl Kennedy, was found safe in Randolph County.

Police said Carl Kennedy was taken into custody in Randleman, North Carolina and that Emma appeared to be in good health and was evaluated at a local hospital.

The FBI had joined the search for the girl, and police believed she was in “extreme danger” after being abducted by her father. Police had been searching for Emma after they said Carl Kennedy took the child at knifepoint from her mother at a gas station in Danville, Virginia on Sunday night.

An Amber Alert was issued following the abduction and that search at one point had extended to the Durham area. Police there said they received a call around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday from someone who said a man tried to sell them a baby but the description of the man did not exactly match and it was not considered a credible lead.

Police also received a tip that Carl Kennedy was spotted in Seven Springs, east of Fayetteville.

According to the N.C. Bureau of Investigation, Kennedy is a registered sex offender.
