State And Federal Teams Surveying Flood Damage In Western NC (2018-06-06 16:00:44)

State and federal emergency management teams are surveying the damage across western North Carolina after recent heavy rains and flooding.

High Country Press reports the assessments will help determine if any state or federal aid may be available to folks who suffered damage.

After local officials made initial assessments last weekend, state and local emergency agencies met Monday and will be visiting communities around the region to determine damages and whether the area would qualify for state and federal funds.

Governor Roy Cooper last week declared 33 counties in western North Carolina as disaster areas to help with equipment and supplies, and the states price gouging laws went into effect.
