More Than 20 Inches Of Snow Now Possible In High Country (2018-12-09 16:30:17)

The Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 a.m. Monday, December 10th.

The National Weather Service reports heavy snow is expected to continue in the High Country throughout the day today, with additional accumulations of 6 to 10 inches possible, and another additional 1 to 3 inches possible tonight.

With accumulations of around one foot in many local areas already, this could mean totals of more than 20 inches are a likely possibility.

The Boone Police Department stated on its Facebook page that due to snow-covered roads and continued rapid snowfall, everyone should stay home unless there is an emergency.

The Facebook post states that “travel, even with 4WD, is risky.”
