Man Falls At Cascades Falls Off Blue Ridge Parkway (2016-11-28 12:23:15)

First responders from Ashe and Wilkes Counties responded to a report of a man falling down Cascades Falls off the Blue Ridge Parkway around 5:30 Friday afternoon.

According to the Jefferson Post, Ashe County Rescue Squad’s Rob Blevins said the Ashe County Rescue Squad was called to the scene to assist Wilkes County agencies. Blevins told the Post that the victim slipped while attempting to take a picture near the falls.

Emergency responders were able to treat the man at the scene, he was then taken to Wilkes Regional Medical Center and then flown by AirCare helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

The Cascades is a popular spot in the E.B. Jeffress Park at milepost 272.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
