Holiday Window Decorating Contest In Downtown Boone Starts Nov 28 (2016-11-23 16:11:35)

The Downtown Boone Development Association and Mast General Store are delighted to announce a Holiday Window Decorating Contest starting Monday, November 28, with the winner announced on Monday, December 19. All businesses, stores, and organizations in downtown Boone are invited and encouraged to participate.

Diane Cornett Deal, Watauga County Clerk of Superior Court; Hank Foreman, Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Arts Engagement; and Office Glen Kornhauser of the Boone Police Department graciously agreed to serve as the judges for the window decorating contest.

The winner will receive a $250.00 gift card from the Mast General Store, and their business name highlighted on the website as well as social media outlets.

Downtown coordinator, Virginia Falck, states, “Throughout the year the downtown merchants do a great job decorating their windows in conjunction with the various holidays and seasons. This year the DBDA board thought it would be fun to hold a contest for the best decorated holiday window. Merchants simply need to decorate their windows in order to be considered as a possible winner.”

“The Mast Store is excited to be the sponsor of the Downtown Boone Holiday Window Decorating Contest,” shares Kendra Sink, general manager of the Mast Store’s downtown Boone location and DBDA board member. “With more businesses participating, the atmosphere downtown will be magical for everyone.”

As the sponsor for the window decorating contest Mast Store of Boone will opt out of participating, but does plan on decorating their storefront windows in a holiday theme. Falck continues, “The December 2 First Friday is an excellent time for folks to stroll through downtown and judge for themselves which holiday window display they think is the best. Plus, downtown Boone has a lot to offer holiday shoppers in search for unique and specialized items, and shopping local is a great way to give back to your community.”
