Wittenberg Dismissed at HHS (2016-11-21 22:09:54)

HICKORY - Hickory High athletic department has announced that football coach Allen Whitteberg has been relieved of his duties as football coach after just two seasons.


Wittenberg said Monday he was asked to resign on Friday, and the school system made his resignation official in a press release issued Monday afternoon around 3 p.m. Whittenberg is HHS' fifth head coach since 2011. He was 3-19 during his two-year stay with the Red Tornadioes, which includes a 2-9 record this season/

The Red Tornadoes haven't had a winning season since 2012, when they were 8-5 under Tom Harper, who led the program for one season before he left for Fred T. Foard. Mike Helms took over the following season before resigned and was replaced by Forrest Blake on an interim basis.
