Owens Field House To Be Demolished, Replaced (2018-12-04 16:00:12)

Demolition of Owens Field House at Appalachian State University will begin in January.

The Watauga Democrat reports the facility was built in 1972 and was once used as the football team’s locker room and offices.

According to the report, the field house will be replaced by the Kidd Brewer Stadium north end zone project.

The project will use up to 100,000 square feet of space for athletic and academic purposes, including education and training space, an orthopedic clinic, dining facilities, a team store and more.

The north end zone project budget is $45 million.

The plan is for the new facility to be open by the fall 2020 football season.
