Wilson Named to Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll (2016-11-14 18:32:42)

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Duke junior running back and kickoff return specialist Shaun Wilson earned a place on the Week 11 Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll, according to an announcement Monday by the Paul Hornung Award.


Last Thursday night, Wilson rushed 24 times for 107 yards and one touchdown, caught two passes for 16 yards and returned five kickoffs for 129 yards to help the Blue Devils to a 28-27 victory over No. 15 North Carolina.

During the game, Wilson, a 5-foot-9, 180, pound native of Charlotte, N.C., became the 22nd Blue Devil to reach 1,500 career yards and now ranks 18th on the school’s career rushing chart with 1,578 yards. Wilson has two 100-yard performances in the last three weeks including a 109-yard effort on the ground at Georgia Tech.

Wilson is joined on this week’s Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll by Michigan linebacker Jabrill Peppers, Ball State wide receiver Kevonn Mabon, USC cornerback Adoree’ Jackson and Florida Atlantic running back Devin Singletary.

The Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse, is annually awarded to the most versatile player in major college football. For the first time in its seven-year span, the Paul Hornung Award is an associate member of the prestigious National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA). The winner of this year’s award and his family will be honored on March 7, 2017, at a banquet presented by KentuckyOne Health at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville, Ky.
