Upcoming Meetings for Town of Boone, Watauga County Commissioners, and Rural Transportaiton (2016-11-14 13:25:07)

A number of meetings of public interest are scheduled for this week.

The Town of Boone’s Mid-Year Planning Retreat is set for Tuesday November 15, 2016, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The day long retreat will discuss downtown design, multi-family in mixed use development, parking and the comprehensive plan and Boone 2030 land use plan. Watauga County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday November 15th to allow citizen comment on some new road names. The meeting will be at 5:30 pm in the Commissioners Board Room of the Watauga County Administration Building, 814 West King Street. There is a long list of new road names, and a number of changes for existing roads. All interested parties are urged to attend and you can find out more by calling 828-265-8000. 

The Rural Transportation Coordinating Committee (RTCC) of the High Country RPO will hold a meeting on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the High Country Council of Governments building located at 468 New Market Blvd., Boone, NC 28607. The RTCC will meet at 10:00 AM. The meeting is open to the public. The High Country Rural Transportation Planning Organization (RPO) is a collaborative effort between the counties of Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey; the incorporated municipalities in the seven counties; the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT); and the High Country (Region D) Council of Governments. The High Country RPO is involved in all aspects of transportation planning in the region, and operates through the actions of two committees - The Rural Transportation Coordinating Committee (RTCC), comprised of county, municipal, and NCDOT staff; and the Rural Transportation Advisory Committee (RTAC), comprised of county and municipal elected officials. Both committees meet on a quarterly basis during the months of February, May, August, and November.  

Boone Town Council will meet Thursday November 17th at council chambers, 1500 Blowing Rock Road Boone. There will be a public hearing concerning redrafting the towing and booting rules in Town Code Chapter 73, as well as other items on the agenda. The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm.
