Woman Airlifted, Child Injured In West Jefferson Head-on Crash (2018-11-09 16:06:49)

A woman suffered life threatening injuries in a two-car crash on Highway 16 in West Jefferson on Tuesday.

The Ashe Post and Times reports T.W. Blevins fell asleep at the wheel of his pickup truck and drifted into the oncoming traffic lane.

According to the report, Blevins collided head-on with a Subaru driven by D.K. Roland, who also had her 10-year-old daughter in the car.

Roland was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center with critical injuries, and her daughter was taken to Ashe Memorial Hospital for her injuries.

Both vehicles were destroyed in the accident.

Blevins was charged with reckless driving.
