Rominger To Retire From Watauga Sheriff's Office (2018-12-26 16:01:05)

Captain Dee Dee Rominger will retire from the Watauga County Sheriff’s office on December 31st after 16 years of service.

The Watauga Democrat reports Rominger is captain of investigations and usually works in cases involving child abuse.

According to the report, she has worked closely with a lot of local agencies including OASIS, Watauga Social Services and the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Blue Ridge.

Rominger grew up in Newland and went to Avery High School, Lees-McRae and Caldwell Community College. She entered law enforcement in 1984 for North Carolina Crime Control and Public Safety, moving to Appalachian State University Police and then the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office.

Over her career Rominger has earned certificates in criminal investigations, advanced death investigation and advanced network forensics.
