4th Zap Resident Qualifies for Olympic Trials (2018-10-30 18:09:45)

ZAP Fitness athlete and Blowing Rock resident, Andrew Colley, became the fourth ZAP athlete to punch their ticket to the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials, by virtue of his Half Marathon time of 1-hour, two minutes and 20 seconds set at the Valencia Half Marathon in Valencia, Spain.

The performance was a 20 second improvement on Colley’s previous best of 1hr 02 min 40 seconds set at this year’s US Half Marathon Championships in Pittsburgh.

Colley, who was an NC State All American while running collegiately, joins ZAP athletes Johnny Crain, Tyler Pennel and Nicole Dimercurio as local Blowing Rock runners who have already qualified for the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials to be held in downtown Atlanta on 2/29/2020.

To qualify for the Olympic Trials male runners must run under 2 hrs 19 minutes in a full marathon or under 1 hr 04 minutes in the Half Marathon between Sept 1 2017 and January 18 2020. Women’s standards are sub 2 hrs 45 minutes or a sub 1 hr 13 minutes half marathon.
