Doc's Rocks Raises Over $22,000 For Boone Cancer Center (2018-10-31 15:12:58)

Doc’s Rocks Gem Mine raised more than $22,000 for the Seby B. Jones Regional Cancer Center in Boone.

High Country Press reports the money raised came from Doc’s Rocks annual “Mining for a Purpose Day,” -- a day where 100 percent of the money brought in at the Gem Mine is given to the Cancer Center.

According to the report, the money will go directly to the Cancer Patient Emergency Fund, which helps provide patients with things like gas cards, grocery money, medication and money for utility bills.

Since “Mining for a Purpose” started seven years ago, Doc’s Rocks Gem Mine has donated more than $96,000 to the cancer center.
