Jefferson Man Charged In Shooting In Wilkes County (2016-12-20 11:24:20)

Wilkes Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a Jefferson man after a shooting incident.

The Wilkes Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury after a shooting incident early Sunday morning near Sheets Gap Road and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Wilkes Journal Patriot reports Michael Dennis Miller, age 44, of 5887 Highway 16, Jefferson, released from the Wilkes County Jail under $50,000 secured bond.

The shooting victim was identified as Derek Allan Osborne, 41. His address wasn’t immediately available. Osborne was taken to Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. His condition was not reported but he is expected to recover.

The report indicates Chief Deputy David Carson said the incident resulted from some type of disagreement.
