Watauga Sheriff's Office Leads Successful Drug Drop-off (2018-10-22 14:52:17)

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office lead another successful drug drop-off through Operation Medicine Cabinet on October 13th.

The bi-annual drug drop off started in 2010 with a purpose to safely remove prescription and nonprescription drugs that are no longer in use so that they will not be available for misuse or discarded improperly.

This time around, nearly 2,400 ounces of prescription pills, non-prescription pills and liquids were collected from four different locations throughout Watauga County.

Law officials and organizations who assisted the Watauga Sheriff’s Office included Boone Police Department, Blowing Rock Police Department, Town of Boone Public Utilities, Western Youth Network of Boone and Watauga Substance Abuse Prevention.

The next drug drop-off is being planned for the spring of 2019.
