Work Continues On Boone Water Intake Project (2018-12-20 16:17:00)

On February 13th, 2017, the Harper Corporation and Garney Construction Company, Inc. were provided with the Notice to Proceed on the Boone Water Line, Water Treatment Plant, Intake and Booster Pump Station Project.

The Garney Construction Company, Inc. has completed their portion of the contract.

The following is a project update summarizing recent and future work involving the Harper Corporation...

The Harper Corporation continues to complete items at the water treatment plant, the water intake site and at the Brownwood Road booster pump station.

The focus at the water treatment plant has been the completion of chemical piping, installation of new clarifier controllers, and the installation of a new membrane roof on the existing water treatment plant building. Work will now focus on completing the roof installation and punch list items.

At the intake site on the New River, the pumps and generators have been installed and crews have conducted site grading. Work will now focus on completing electrical work and punch list items.

At the booster pump station, the parking lot and electrical has been completed. Work will now focus on installing live stakes to stabilize the creek bank and punch list items.

The project currently has an approved contract time of 632 days, which includes Town Council approved Change Order No. 1 - No. 5. The contracted completion date was to be November 7th, 2018, and the project is currently 41 days beyond the completion date.

Pay request No. 22, which covers work through November 30th, 2018, includes a withholding of $34,500 for liquidated damages.

It is anticipated that Harper Corporation and the Town of Boone Public Works Staff will conduct an on site review of the entire project in early January as the project items are completed and substantial completion is met per the contract documents.
