Appalachian Theatre Continues Construction (2018-10-04 15:18:43)

Construction for stage expansion has started at the Appalachian Theatre of the High Country.

The Watauga Democrat reports the back wall of the theatre has been demolished to make room for additions to the sides of the stage.

According to the report, the original stage was 17 feet deep, and the new stage will be 34 to 36 feet deep. The new stage will also have a 19-foot overhead arch. Both additions are on track to be finished by December.

At the same time, construction crews are also working to restore the theatre’s lobby with a new concessions stand and bathrooms.

The entire theatre should be complete by next summer.
