Single Car Accident Brings Down Power Lines In Banner Elk (2018-10-02 15:40:22)

A single car accident in Banner Elk on Sunday morning brought down power lines at the entrance of Linville Ridge and Grandfather Village.

The Watauga Democrat reports the driver of the car was trapped by the downed power lines when first responders arrived at the scene. The driver didn’t have any injuries.

According to the report, the downed power lines blocked traffic on Highway 105 for most of the day, and traffic was rerouted across Grandfather Mountain and Banner Elk.

Mountain Electric fixed the power lines.

Responding to the accident were Linville Volunteer Fire Department, Linville-Central Rescue Squad, Avery County EMS, Avery County Sheriff's Office and State Highway Patrol.
