White House To Select Christmas Tree From Newland Farm (2018-09-20 15:05:56)

The White House will select its Blue Room Christmas Tree at Mountain Top Fraser Fir in Newland this year.

The selection will take place at the farm at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 24th.

For those who want to attend, there will be red, white and blue ribbons marking directions to the farm beginning at Hardee's in Newland.

Mountain Top Fraser Fir owner Larry Smith was named the National Christmas Tree Association Grand Champion Tree Grower.

Winners of the National Christmas Tree Association national tree contest have presented the White House Christmas Tree since 1966.

Smith will present First Lady Melania Trump with a Real Fraser Fir Christmas Tree for display in the White House Blue Room on November 19th.

The selected tree will be harvested on November 14th.
