Judge Upholds High Impact Land Use Permit For Asphalt Plant (2016-12-14 13:50:26)

Superior Court Judge John O. Craig III has upheld a Watauga County Board of Adjustment ruling that restored a high impact land use permit for a new asphalt plant on U.S. 421.

The Watauga Democrat reports that Judge Craig heard arguments in the appeal Nov. 14 and informed attorneys that he planned to uphold the board of adjustment’s decision. In February, the Watauga County Board of Adjustment sided in favor of Johnny Hampton, J.W. Hampton Co. and Maymead Inc. when they challenged the asphalt plant permit revocation by county Planning & Inspection Director Joe Furman.

According to the Democrat,  the official order has not yet been entered by the court.
