Pauline Rash Whitehead, age 81 of 267 Brown Road, Sparta, NC peacefully went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 13, 2018 at her residence.

She was born January 24, 1937 in Alleghany County to the late Sherman and Leava Crouse Rash. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Whitehead; two sisters, Kathleen Underwood and Ethel Holbrook; one nephew, Ray Smith. Pauline was a faithful member of New River Baptist Church for many years. She spent more than fifteen years showing her love and compassion for children through the Foster Grandparent Program at Sparta Elementary School. Pauline was a loving mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her door was always open for friends and family. She loved having a full house, and “if you left hungry, it was you own fault.” She is survived by two daughters, Karen Loggins and husband Richard of Piney Creek, Judy Jenkins and husband Tim of Sparta; six grandchildren, Michael Brannock and wife Sara of Tampa, FL, Sheena Green of Clemmons, Julie Davis and husband Tony of Dobson, Kevin White and wife Mio of Gilbert, AZ, Chad Loggins and wife Cheryl of Ennice, Josh Jenkins of Lowgap; seven great-grandchildren, Leeann Brannock, Zechariah Davis, Riley Brannock, Jacob Jenkins, Elijah Jenkins, Kaylee Loggins, Kassidy Loggins; six brothers, Randolph Rash and wife Libby of Goldsboro, Frank Rash of Glade Valley, Ronnie Rash and wife Nancy of Cornelius, Earl Rash and wife Ellen of Huntsville, TN, Gary Rash and wife Janet of Salisbury, Brian Rash and wife Lisa of Glade Valley; three sisters, Betty Ann Jones and husband Wayne of Catawba, Rebecca Brooks and husband Jerry of Sparta, Henri Smith and husband James of Glade Valley; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to celebrate the life of Pauline at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2018 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Elder Gwyn Hamm and Reverend Charlie Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
