High Country Could See Heavy Rain From Hurricane Florence (2018-09-11 15:07:50)

North Carolina remains under a State of Emergency with Hurricane Florence forecasted to make landfall on the coast before the weekend.

In the High Country, depending on the storm’s path, potential high winds and heavy rainfall could cause flooding in the area through next Monday.

President Donald Trump signed an emergency declaration for North Carolina to ensure federal emergency aid will be available throughout the storm.

Governor Roy Cooper released in a statement that Florence is a threat well beyond the coast, so inland counties need to be ready as well.

Blue Ridge Energy is urging people to start making preparations now to remain safe and comfortable in the event of a power outage.

Most importantly is to assemble an emergency kit, complete with at least a three-day supply of water, non-perishable food, medication, first aid supplies, a flashlight and extra batteries.
