HCUW Hosts Awards Breakfast For Local Agencies (2018-09-06 15:05:18)

High Country United Way held its third annual awards breakfast for area agencies on August 30th.

The Watauga Democrat reports the event acknowledged nearly 40 agencies who received funding through High Country United Way this year.

According to the report, more than $225,000 was awarded to agencies in Avery, Ashe, Alleghany, Mitchell and Watauga counties. Grants are funded by private donations, business and employee donations and foundation grants.

WAMY received the most funds this year at about $24,000 for its Total Family Development Program, Garden Assistance for Seniors and Avery YO.
