Man Issued Felony Warrant For Poaching Ginseng (2018-09-04 15:13:07)

A man was issued a felony warrant for allegedly poaching ginseng in the Todd community.

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office received a call on August 7th regarding a trespasser on private property. The landowner confronted the trespasser, who threw down the ginseng roots he had been poaching and fled on foot before law officials arrived.

The suspect, Matthew Scott Miller, 32 years of age, abandoned his nearby vehicle, which was seized by Watauga County Deputies.

Detective Matt Rollins of the Criminal Investigation Unit investigated the incident and established probable cause to draw a felony warrant on Miller for the attempted larceny of ginseng.
