Watauga, Avery Receive State Recreation Project Grants (2018-08-29 15:14:10)

Watauga and Avery Counties were selected to receive grant money for parks and recreation projects.

Governor Roy Cooper announced on August 24th, that the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund awarded nearly $7 million in grants to fund 27 local parks and recreation projects across the state.

Local communities applied for the grants to fund for land acquisition, and the development and renovation of public parks and recreation areas.

In Watauga County, the Middle Fork Greenway Section 4 will receive $430,000.

In Avery County, the Crossnore Town Park will receive $5,000 for improvements.
