Santa's Toy Box Seeks Your Donations of Gifts, Money and Time (2016-12-09 14:29:30)

There are still a few shopping days left to help Santa’s Toy Box provide some holiday cheer to kids and families in Watauga County.

Santa’s Toy Box Chairman Gene Swift told High Country Radio News that donations have been coming in at a good pace but there are some specific needs this year. "We could still use some girl items, 6 years old up to 15 years old. We could also use some footballs, basketballs and soccer balls," Swift said.

Santa's Toy Box has not had very many bicycles in recent years, but Swift said that this year there has been a special donation. "This year we have a group that has bought thirty bicycles and helmets to donate to us. It's a new club on ASU's campus. So we'll have some bicycles for some ages."

While toys and monetary donations are very important, time is another valuable donation you can make to help Santa’s Toy Box.  Swift said "we can definitely use some volunteers to help us Tuesday and Thursday (12/13 & 12/15)." If you’d like to help out, you can contact Gene at 828-266-3362.

There are Santa's Toy Box drop off locations all around the area, including the Boone Police Department and the High Country Radio studios at 738 Blowing Rock Road in Boone. Other locations include Ross Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Everett Nissan, First Citizens Bank 105 Extension, State Employees Credit Union New Market Center, Big Lots, Dancey’s Shoes, Haircut 101, Old World Galleries Blowing Rock, and at Circle K convenience stores.

Please drop off donations by Wednesday December 14th to assure they arrive on time for Christmas.
