Downtown Boone Considers Hotel Project (2018-08-15 15:28:50)

The downtown Boone Marketplace project, originally proposed as a mixed-use apartment and commercial space, is now being considered as a hotel project.

The Watauga Democrat reports that John Winkler of Howard Street Ventures filed an application with the town of Boone on April 13th for a new multi-story hotel with a restaurant and public parking deck.

According to the report, the proposed hotel will sit in front of King, Water and Howard streets.

The project is estimated to cost $10 million.

A demolition permit has been issued, but a rezoning application has not been filed.
