Franklin Sentenced To Four Years, Five Months For Fraud, Embezzlement (2018-08-09 15:36:06)

A Boone woman was sentenced to 4 years and 5 months in prison on August 6th for fraud and embezzlement.

The Watauga Democrat Reports that Connie S. Franklin, 58 years of age, pleaded guilty in federal court on February 21st to embezzling more than $1.5 million from her employer and committing tax fraud.

Franklin was also ordered to three years of supervised release on both counts after she has served her prison sentence, and was additionally ordered to pay forfeiture of the $1.5 million she embezzled and restitution of more than $2 million.

According to the report, from 2008 to 2016, Franklin committed a scheme to embezzle funds from the bank account of the company where she worked by falsely signing the names of the company’s executives on checks made payable to herself.

From 2012 to 2016, Franklin understated her taxable income by more than $1.4 million.
