Man Dies From Gunshot Wound In Wilkes (2018-08-09 15:38:42)

A man from Moravian Falls died from a gunshot wound on Tuesday.

The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 2 p.m.

The victim, James Everett Bailey, age 46, flagged down a driver and was picked up on Highway 18 South at Moravian Falls.

The driver called 911 while driving Bailey to the 4 Brothers convenience store near the Westwood Hills subdivision in Wilkesboro, where he met law enforcement and emergency medical services personnel.

Bailey appeared to have a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Wilkes County EMS treated Bailey at the scene and transported him to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

Bailey died from the injuries of the event late Tuesday night.

The incident is still under investigation at this time.
