Two Juveniles Charged With Arson In Gatlinburg Fires (2016-12-08 13:41:50)

Two teenagers have been charged with arson in Tennessee.

At a press conference Wednesday, Tennessee officials as well as federal authorities announced charges have been filed against two juveniles for intentionally starting a fire in the Chimney Tops area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park last month.

According to WCYB TV, Fourth District Attorney Jimmy Dunn said the two juveniles are currently charged with aggravated arson but other charges could be pending.

Those wildfires spread into the city of Gatlinburg and other parts of the county, killing 14 people, injuring more than 80 and damaging or destroying more than 1,500 buildings, homes and businesses.

Dunn said that it is possible that the juveniles will have their charges moved to adult court proceedings.
