Capital Bank gifted Western Youth Network with a $10,000 grant to support a financial literacy program for youth across the High Country.

The Avery Journal Times reports that along with the grant, Capital Bank volunteers will teach students with Western Youth Network about the financial topics of dignity, budgeting, banking products, services and investing.

According to the report, the end goal is to help students become confident about money so they can make financially responsible decisions in the future.

Western Youth Network recently expanded its services and now reaches Ashe, Avery, Alleghany, Wilkes and Watauga Counties.
