Ashe Board Of Education Approves 2018-19 Budget (2018-07-06 14:06:48)

The Ashe County Board of Education unanimously approved appropriations for the 2018-2019 budget.

The Ashe Post and Times reports the appropriations are from Ashe County Schools’ budget growing by $262,000 from the previous school year.

According to the report, the proposed budget for the upcoming school year is just over $5 million.

The board plans to use the additional funds for professional development, instruction, technology, athletics, beginning teacher support, Assessment, Support and Counseling and for maintenance and repair.

The board members also approved $431,000 for capital outlay, including funds for furniture, equipment and maintenance and repair.

Ashe County Superintendent Phyllis Yates also proposed an increase to coaching supplements by 20 percent starting in the 2018-2019 school year. The board unanimously approved the motion.
